Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common causes of knee pain in adults. It can lead to stiffness, swelling, difficulty walking, and limitations that affect everyday life—like going up stairs, standing for long periods, or enjoying workouts or hobbies you love. Current evidence supports that a multimodal approach to treatment of pain is best. When used in combination, manual therapy, exercise, and education seems to provide better outcomes than manual therapy alone. Studies have shown that the application of manual physical therapy can help to optimize conditions for performing strengthening exercises through its ability to improve impairments in mobility, pain, and motor recruitment.
